Sangiovese

(and 1 Aglianico Bianco)

Please enjoy the classic and ancient grape of Tuscany. We will explore the techniques of Chianti Classico and a Reserva. We will try a Super Tuscan and a Vino Nobile Di Montelpulciano. All which are made with Sangiovese. Rich and ripe, these are excellent wines for food and for fun.

Join us from 4PM through 8PM Tomorrow Wednesday November 22.

Terra Aspra, Aglianico, Yellow Rose 2011

Organic Aglianico grape vinified white! Grown in clayey limestone soils, in climate that is hilly, thermal excursions positively influenced by the nearby lake and rivers Sinni and Sarmento. Bouquet is complex with delicious notes of tropical fruits. Taste is structured, well-balanced, with persistent finishing touches of toasted almonds.

Cafaggio, Chianti Classico, Vendemmia Single Estate 2013

Sangiovese grapes, produced on the estates that surround the company located in Panzano in Chianti in the heart of the "Conca d'Oro", a symbol of the Tuscan wine. Maturation in large Slavonian oak casks for 12 months and in bottle for a minimum of three months. Bing cherry/macerated cherry on the nose. Medium weight with smooth black tea and cherry skin tannins. Bright fresh Bing and sour cherry spicy raspberry touch of cola and a bit of earth on the palate

San Felice Il Grigio Chianti Classico Riserva 2013

The Il Grigio Chianti Classico Riserva from San Felice is sourced from their very best vineyards at the heart of Chianti where Sangiovese thrives. This particular representation comes through on the meatier end of Chianti offering hearty red fruit followed by richer notes of blackberries, earth, and figs. Unlike most Chiantis, this is an example that will take to age with grace, and is in fact just beginning to show some very nice secondary aromas. A brilliant, food friendly Tuscan Gem

Avignonesi, “Cantaloro” 2014

A versatile young red wine with lots of ripe fruit intertwined with scents of Mediterranean herbs and sweet spices. The taste is fragrant, round and well balanced. Perfect with pasta dishes, soups, red or white meat, and cheeses. This red wine can also be served slightly chilled in the summer.

Avignonesi, Vino Noble di Montelpulciano 2013

There’s loads of Sangiovese character here, from the earthy, tobacco-scented beginning to the cherry, leather and earth flavors, all underlined by stiff, chalky tannins. Refined textured finish. Elegant aromas of fresh, red berry fruits with delicate floral undertones and an intriguing balsamic touch, some hazelnut too... The taste is medium-bodied and round with fragrant fruit, silky tannins and a long lasting, mineral finish.
