Wine Tasting Around the Globe

Around the World

With this fun tasting we will visit a different continent with each bottle. Africa, Australia, South America, Europe, and North America. These bottles should be boisterous with flavor and packed with enjoyment. Come and let us whisk you away on this whirlwind tour around the globe.

Badenhorst, Secateurs Chenin Blanc, South Africa, 2016

The aromas are flinty with honey, orange blossom and white stone fruit notes. Good ripe flavors and slightly lower acids than in previous years. Brightly defined, A light touch of toast on the finish lets the fruit and immorality play out.

Cantine Valpane, “Canone Inverso” Freisa, Monferrato, Piedmont, Italy, 2012

Most people see Freisa as a young-drinking, lively little wine. The name is therefore a play on words because his wine is the inverse of the canonical (= traditional, accepted) style. Clear, dark garnet color with a brown tint and a lighter rim. Earthy aromas with hints of dark fruit. Quite intense cherry taste. Very dry and continues through a long smooth finish that has nice grippy tannins, bright acidity and a spicy note in the finish.

Northwest Cellars R Private reserve, Columbia Valley, WA

50% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, 10% Malbec, 5% Carménère

Notes of dried crushed herbs, leather, anise and some old fashioned strawberry hard candy on the nose which follow through on the palate. Moderate tannins frame a soft mouthfeel with dark purple fruit, chocolate, and a touch of red cherry before a lightly spicy finish.

Bodega Garzón, Cabernet Franc, Uruguay 2015

Deep, opaque garnet color. The nose is floral with fresh violet, earth and minerals. The palate is highly rewarding with blackberry, plum, spice, chocolate and mint. Medium body and pleasant acidity. Great example of the outstanding wines produced in Uruguay.

Gemtree, Dragon's Blood Shiraz, McLaren Vale, Australia, 2015

Gemtree is totally committed to sustainability: their vineyards are not just certified organic but are farmed biodynamically. We will find a full-bodied Shiraz that displays notes of blueberry, black currant, and an earthy touch, displays notes of an earthen touch.
