Please welcome back Jessica From Vinum for a cool comparative tasting. We will try one white and one red from 3 countries!!! We will try a Riesling and a Pinot Noir from

Germany, France, and USA!! So, we get to compare a Riesling 3 ways, then Pinot Noir 3 ways. A cool way to see the highlighted flavors of each country. These wines are a good representation of each Country. Come have fun and try these fun wines!!

Gunderloch, “Jean Baptist” Riesling Germany 2015 $22

Aromas of juicy peach, pear, raspberry and lime with a sprinkling of dried herbs. On the palate, one finds grapefruit, tangerine, lime and white pepper. The wine is well-proportioned with a long minerally texture finishing with lime and almond paste.

Schoenheitz, Riesling, France 2016 $19

The shy nose has only the slightest whiff of mango. The palate is slender, wonderfully tart with lemon and dry: mango reappears around the edges, but lemon takes center stage. This is slender, light, dry and very refreshing.

Trisaetum, Coast Range Riesling, Oregon, 2016 $29

Big, bold and fruity, this seduces with Juicy Fruit gum, peach and papaya flavors. There's a heft of ripeness and residual sweetness to the palate, yet it also shows good grip and impressive length. 93 points from Wine Enthusiast!

Gryphon Crest, Pinot Noir Germany 2015 $16

Intense black plum and cherry perfume juxtapose savory tones of smoked nuts and wet earth in this fresh and fruity yet composed wine. Plump black fruit flavors are broad and rich but framed by brisk acidity and a trace of mineral complexity. A fantastic introduction to German Pinot that's surprisingly easy on the wallet.

Schoenheitz, Pinot Noir “Herrenreben” France 2013 $19

Spectacular Pinot Noir from Alsace purchased in Strasbourg. Ruby red color. The aroma simply sensational, full of plum, blackberry and cassis. To the perfect palate, an explosion of flavors, with adequate acidity. Tannins moderate and prolonged finish. Great harmony with Brie cheese and apple!

Eyrie Pinot Noir, Oregon 2015 $39

A great example of a Oregon Pinot Noir. Complex and elegant- damp earth and cherries on the nose, currants, licorice and a hint of oak on the tongue. Fruitful, fresh, balanced but with lively aromatic structure, lots of cranberries, lingers in mouth and makes it a special wine. Good and it’s the entry label. Wow!!!
