Wine Tasting

Dog Days of Summer

The heat has penetrated or core. We dish out a few fresh wines that help with the swelter. Don’t be afraid to mow the lawn with one of these bad boys riding shotgun.  A smattering of white wines from Portugal, Australia, and South Africa! Then we dip our toes into Spain, Washington and California for the reds. These places know how to deal with the heat…. It’s better than lying in a sprinkler!

Chill out @ Humble Vine Saturday Aug 12th. 4pm-8pm

Planalto, Duoro Red, Portugal 2016 $13

Citrine color with a slightly golden hue. An aroma of good complexity, with floral notes, tropical fruit, white fruits and earthy, slightly shrubby tones. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and reveals a lively and well-integrated acidity, alongside floral notes and touches of white fruit. It has an extremely elegant finish.

Yalumba, Viognier, Australia 2107 $12

The Viognier depicts vine cuttings. Vine cuttings are the beginnings of a new vineyard, planted after careful sorting, grafting and bundling in our state-of-the-art Yalumba Nursery. This thoroughly alluring wine evokes hints of honeysuckle, lemon and lychees.

De Wetshof, Limestone Hill Chardonnay, South Africa 2017 $17

Heavy clay soils rich in limestone allow this Chardonnay to emit optimum varietal expression in a cloak of rich complexity. An un-wooded wine, Limestone Hill has notes of grapefruit and nuts, with the complexity balanced by a nuanced elegance ending with a delicate ripeness.

Vina Albali, Tempranillo Spain 2015 $10

Smooth and fresh Tempranillo with aromas of Black cherry, ripe plums, and a bit of bramble. The finish is tasty with as bit of spice. The perfect wine for chugging in the summer.

Kamiak, Rock Lake Red, Washington 2014 $14

This garnet colored wine starts with toasted aromas that give way to notes of plum and chocolate. Luscious raspberry flavors compliment the medium body of this wine that delivers luscious acidity and a velvety lingering finish.

Stolpman, La Cuadria, Ballard Canyon California 2016 $24

2016 La Cuadrilla pops with a blast of fresh red plum, boysenberry, and blueberry fruit.  Enjoyable out of the gate, the full-bodied wine’s power is totally in check – with tannin and acidity already integrated into the pure juiciness that lasts way through the finish.  This wine is going to make a lot of folks very happy with the crew!
