Wine Tasting: C&G WINES

C&G Wines Presents: Piedmont wines

Please welcome in Stephen with C&G WINES. an importer and distributor. They have an awesome portfolio and he will pour some outstanding wines from North-West Italy. I will be going to Piedmont soon so I am excited to see this awesome display of amazing winemakers and some natural wines from the region.

We will explore the region and varieties, from the light and fruity reds grown at the foot of the Alps to the dark and serious Barbaresco from the beautiful hills closer to the ocean. This region produces some of the nicest red wine found anywhere and this is a great chance to try and buy some of what has become increasingly more sought after. We also will start with a great bubbly made by a small Northern Italian producer.

Stephen says, “I was lucky enough to go there 20 years ago and still remember the rabbit cooked with truffles and the matching Barbaresco grown only a few miles away. These wines are known for how well that match with food and their balance overall. Come check them out

Come in and check them out, @Humble Vine, Saturday March 23’d.  4-8PM

Bison, Bianco delle Venezie Frizzante $21

Finely balanced bubbly, with green apple and floral aromas dominating the complex, heady mix. Chiseled mineral acidity and bone dry! If you don’t like prosecco this will change that!

Monsecco, “Borgoalto” Croatina $16

Grown some 90 miles northeast of Alba at the base of the Italian Alps. Medium dark in color with a clear rim, the nose evokes tart red Alpine berries, fresh herbal air and a surprising whiff of iodine. Tart, fresh, confident and bright on the palate, the medium weight flavors are focused, persistent and very long. While there is little apparent sweetness, this is not a tart or severe wine

Luigi Ferrando, “La Torrazza” Canavese Rosso $21

This Alto-Piemonte blend of mostly Nebbiolo is vinified in stainless steel. Fresh, young, and lively red. Bursting with juicy strawberry and raspberry and soft tannins. Yum! A wonderful piedmont blend.

San Fereolo, “Valdiba” Dogliani $27

A youthful expression of the Dogliani DOCG, the “Valdibà” is made all in steel, which shows in the fresh brightness of the wine. Classic Dolcetto that one can get from this region, showing zesty vibrancy and purity of place.

De Forville, Barbareso $42

Flavors of truffle, earth, berries, rose, tar and leather and carrying, most important of all, a backbone of sweet, dusty tannins that give length. Ruby red with bright garnet reflections that prevail with the ageing. Hints of violet. Dry and round, thanks to its powerful structure and balanced tannins.
