Italy
North to South, Italy has an abundance of delicious wine, that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Our tasting from the “boot” will knock your stockings off. We start with a rich Chardonnay from Tuscany, then to the native classic Grillo from Sicily, and the ever-popular Pinot Grigio. Followed by a Montepulciano D’Abruzzo and a Gutternio Superiore. Come hear all about these unique wines!!

Caparzo, Chardonnay $13
From the one of the leading ladies of Italian winemaking Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini. No oak contact and a short aging period in the bottle this wine is made to be drunk fresh. This is one that can win over even non-Chardonnay drinkers!
Baccaro Grillo. $13
Grillo is a white Italian wine grape variety which withstands high temperatures and is widely used in Sicilian wine-making and, in particular, for making Marsala. But this wine has a sleek acidity that frames the creamy palate of anise, yellow plum, smoke and grapefruit. Super cool.
Serenissima, Pinot Grigio. $14
A Pinot Grigio that is dry, smooth and optimally structured. A color of straw yellow with golden highlights, this wine is full-bodied and pleasantly soft on the palate. Aromas of easy citrus and white flowers are complemented by green apple and Bartlett pears.
Villa Girasole . Montepulciano d Abruzzo. $14
Dark and inky with a purple rim and good legs. Nose of red fruit and licorice. Then, a palate of steely berries, some red fruit, and nice bitter that softens the tannins. Moderate fruitiness.
Il Negrese, Gutturnio Superiore, $16
Bonarda and Barbera! Another knockout from Petit Monde. This wine from Italy hits all the stops. Dry with bold tannins, great fruit. Mom and pop with sustainable practices. Mmmm!
Casa Vinironia, Apassimento $19
Produced in the Veneto using the 'appassimento' method used in the production of Amarone wines. The grapes are left longer on the vine than is usual for 'standard' table wines to elevate and concentrate the levels of natural sugars and they then undergo a period of natural drying. The resultant wine is concentrated, fruity, strong backbone of tannins and acidity at a pleasing level, just right to balance the rich, plummy fruit flavors.
