Alpine Wines!

The European Alps are almost impossibly gigantic, soaring to 15,781 feet at their highest point and running through multiple countries, from Germany and Switzerland into Austria (to name a few).

These wines for our line up tonight are more "Sound of Music" than abominable snowman- meaning they're beautifully delicious!

@ Humble Vine

Wednesday, December 22th

4pm-8pm

Only $15

Barbara Ohlzelt, ” Leader” Gruner Veltliner , Austria $22

Barbara Öhlzelt is turning the region’s paradigm completely on its head. Instead of the unctuous, powerful and masculine wines of the famous large estates, Barbara’s wines emphasize focus and a quiet, simmering intensity. This oh-so-lovely Grüner boasts savory acidity and mouthfuls of spice, flint, and lime. It’s seriously delicious with white pizza topped with salty prosciutto, and ‘Leader’ is a play on word for ‘Liter’.

(It’s 1 liter large with a playful crown cap).

Meinklang, Mulatschak, Austria $21

Weisser Mulatschak from Meinklang is something really special. Between white and orange, it’s a explosion of flavors. A lightly aromatic and tannic skin contact white wine with soft yeastiness. A blend of Welschriesling, Pinot Gris, and Traminer all given 5 to 7 days of maceration on the skins. Certified biodynamic farming, spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel, no filtering or fining, and very low sulfite additions. Naturally hazy, notes of apricots and goldenberries. Wait until you try it!

Avalanche, Pinot Noir, Switzerland! $26

In southwestern Switzerland, the Valais region lies within the heart of the Swiss Alps, not far from the French and Italian borders. The Valais is known for its dry, continental climate as well as the significant elevation of its mountain slopes, both of which make it a perfect environment for growing grapes. This Pinot Noir wine offers enticing aromas of red cherries and just-picked raspberries. The palate shows flavors of black cherry and raspberry, with a subtle touch of Christmas baking spices. It is well structured and well balanced, with silky tannins and a smooth finish

Darting, Pinot Munier, Germany $22

Pinot Meunier. Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of black plum, red cherry, bramble, raspberry and blossom. On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied, is filled with ripe, medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose along with a light-taste of cedar on the medium-plus finish. The wine is medium in acidity with slightly-grippy, medium tannin

Hopler, Blaufränkisch, Austria $28

Blaufränkisch is the second most widely planted red grape in Austria. It is a noble and exciting grape which can express the origins where it is grown.

With a nose of delicate berries, smokey spice and ripe cherries, you will find on the palate juicy dark fruits with fresh acidity and well integrated echoes of oak.

Pair this wine with anything roasted or meats with a little more fat - lamb, turkey, even pork belly!
