Cor Cellars Alba $23
Co-fermented in a concrete tank, this blend of 62% Pinot Gris and 38% Gewurztraminer showcases the brilliant characteristics of Celilo Vineyard and the refreshing results of merging two traditionally Alsatian varietals into one Columbia Gorge wine. Peach melon and honeysuckle accentuated by spicy notes of pear and lychee make this wine a wonderful companion to a wide variety of globe-trotting dishes, especially those with a fiery temperament.
Delille, Chaleur Blanc $37 $29
A rich and expressive wine featuring a complex nose of dried apricots, figs, grapefruit, flint, toasted straw and grilled bread. The mouthfeel is rich, silky and voluminous with notes of grapefruit, gooseberries, hazelnuts and toast on the finish.
This energetic, canary yellow wine presents a complex nose with aromas of grapefruit, golden hay, lemon zest, petrichor and pastry dough. 2019 Chaleur Blanc offers fresh fruit flavors of apricot and white peach on the palate, deliciously balanced with savory herb notes of basil and tarragon. This vintage is well proportioned throughout, with integrated barrel notes and the cuvee’s traditional crisp acidity.
Rasa, Occams Razor $18
Winemaker Notes: The 2018 Occam’s Razor, like its predecessors, offers an exceptional quality to price ratio. This wine has a fantastic bouquet of blackberry, cassis, framboise, with nuances of spice, leather, vanilla, and espresso. The full-bodied palate has suave tannins with well delineated notes of blackberry, huckleberry, cassis, black cherry, vanilla, cigar tobacco, dark chocolate, cedar, and spice. The wine shows a deft balance between the fruit extract, refreshing acidity, and moderately grippy tannins. The wine finishes with lovely notes of cassis, black cherry, framboise, and earth. This is a compelling beverage at a modest price point. Drinks well now but will improve over the next 5-8 years.
Fermentation: The wine had a pre-fermentation maceration average of 122 hours and a post-fermentation maceration average of 76 hours. Native fermentation was used on 80% of the lots. 25% whole clusters were used to give added structure. The wine was punched down by hand 3 times each day during macerations and fermentation. All individual wine components, including free run and press fractions, were kept separate until final blending.
Cooperage: The oak profile is 20% new French oak (predominantly from Troncais and Alliers) and 80% neutral French oak.
Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Merlot, Cabernet Franc,
Tempranillo, Petit Verdot
Kind Stranger Cabernet $18
85% Aquilini Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Weinbau Vineyard Malbec
Washington Cabernet vines grown in basalt derived gravel on the shoulders of Red Mountain give excellent depth, intense fruit and ample structure from this awesome site. Weinbau’s 30 year old Malbec vines pile on the concentration and spice notes. This stunner was fermented whole berry with indigenous yeasts, then macerated an average of 28 days between the lots. Basket pressed to barrel for 20 months, 15% new french oak mostly 500L.
We're inspired by taking the name KIND STRANGER quite literally and turning toward others around us. We've seen our national landscape shift over the last few years and we feel it's as important as ever to be a real kind stranger in the world. Proceeds from this wine benefit Mary’s Place at the local level here in Seattle and the International Rescue Committee on a broader scale, please click the links to see the important work they do. Cheers!
Guardian Chalk Line $26
Chalk Line is our version of THE Washington blend featuring Cab, Merlot, and Syrah. With restrained elegance, this Chalk Line greets you with ripe black cherry, blackberry, and wood smoke. The aromatics carry over to the palate with deep notes of cherry pie, violet, vanilla, bitter orange, and rich baking spices in each sip. The mouth-feel is bold and dense. Although good now, this vintage is an age-worthy wine.
A luxurious table wine of dark cherry, leather, earth, and spice. This is a bold wine that exudes notes of dark chocolate and warm caramel. Cranberry and wild cherry, chalk and earth flavors.
Blend: 37% Cabernet, 33% Merlot, 30% Syrah
Vineyards: Obelisco, Quintessence, StoneTree and Conner Lee
