Arndorfer, "Vorgeschmack" Rotburger Rose, Kamptal, Austria $26
Nerd wine alert! 14 hours on organic Rotburger skins before pressing then additional 14 days on Gruner Veltliner skins to extract a spicy character and add some tannins. Then aged 70% in stainless steel, and 30% in French oak. Very little sulfur added. Appearance is a unfiltered pink with more red and than salmon. Generous red fruit yet savory with some spice and herbaceous notes. Texture is soft and full body but finishes dry.
Flowers, Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast, California $45
Cool coastal influence abounds in this Chardonnay, brimming with fresh energy. Perfumed citrus swirls with pear, crushed almond, and an earthy, wet-stone minerality expressing the region's savory appeal. Juicy citrus on the palate gives way to complex layers of white stone fruit and herbs, while a backbone of vivid acidity carries the wine through a beautifully textured finish.
Chalone Vineyards, Estate Pinot Noir, Chalone Appellation, California $24
Estate grown and bottled high atop the Gavilan mountain range at 1800 ft! This Burgundian style Pinot Noir reveals aromas of freshly picked cherries, vanilla, and violet with hints of graphite and wet stone. On the palate, savory red fruit flavors of raspberry and plum are complimented with a touch of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. A silky mouthfeel delivers a plush mid-palate with a viscosity of creamy tannins and balanced acidity.
CVNE Cune, Gran Reserva Rioja, Rioja, Spain $39
Fantastic Rioja with great fruit aromas, balance, and classic flavor. Full body, yet smooth. Lots of smoky oak, tobacco, leather, vanilla, cherry, cedar, blackberry, blackcurrant, pepper. The vines are 45 years old on average, producing a blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo. 24 months of aging in American and French oak barrels, then kept for an additional 36 months in cellars under strictly controlled temperature and humidity conditions.
Kavaklidere, Selection Red Blend, Anatolia, Turkey $19
A true Turkey Wine!! We try a blend of the grapes Öküzgözü & Boğazkere both of them from their motherland Turkey. Red ruby color. Clean and rustic on the nose with wet earth and red fruits aromas. It is strong with tannins on the tongue yet smooth and fresh across the palate with raspberries, cherries, and hints of mint and bakers cocoa.
