Eat, Drink and be Merry

Mas Des Restantes, Gigondas-Rhone France   $39

Very beautiful purple dress. On the nose, aromas of black pepper, candied fruit, fig, cherry. Dense and concentrated on the palate with tight tannins, hints of spices and coffee. Hints of green olive, balsamic and soy sauce allude to the 30% Syrah in this supple, savory marriage of Grenache and Syrah. It's a full-bodied, unctuously concentrated wine plush with blackberry flavor. Fresh acidity and ripe, sinewy tannins extend the finish.   70% Grenache and 30% Syrah.

Corazon del Sol, Malbec, Los Chacayes-Uco-Mendoza Argentina   $31

Bodega Corazon del Sol is dedicated to site driven, small-production wines. This high-elevation Malbec tells the story of one of Mendoza’s rockiest sub-zones, Los Chacayes. The vines are sustainably farmed, hand-harvested, individually berry-sorted, then fermented in small batches.

The wine offersVibrant fresh plums and black raspberry with floral and high-toned red fruit aromas and super fine tannins; a benchmark of the intense sunshine and cool evenings in Uco Valley.

Florence, “Maenad” Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley Washington  $33

In Greek mythology, Maenads were the female followers of Dionysus, the Greek god of the grape-harvest, winemaking, orchards and fruit, vegetation, fertility, insanity, ritual madness, religious ecstasy, festivity, and theatre. Sounds like a some partiers!

Sourced from Eritage vineyard in Walla Walla, this Cab has range. Plenty of black fruit that come with ripeness, red fruits that come from a cool site, typical Walla Walla structure to the tannins, flowers, herbs, and spices. that one can expect from classic Bordeaux. This isn’t a fruit bomb nor is it a high acid tongue scraper. This is a balanced wine from a single vineyard with bramble fruits, cocoa nibs, bourbon cherries, pencil shavings, and anise seed.

Two Hands, Sexy beast Cab, McLaren Vale Australia   $34

Round yet fine and detailed, this medium bodied wine is brimming with lovely fruit density. Notes of red current, cassis, black cherry, and plum lead the charge, supported by secondary notes of bay leaf, graphite, wet clay and chocolate. Starting early, tannins are savoury in nature and run long through the palate complimented by lovely accents of ash and coal dust. Dense and chewy through to the finish, this wine has excellent length. Number 59 in Wine Spectators top 100!
