WA.ugust, A time to Celebrate Washington

August is the second Washington wine month! So here we are with some WA.nderful wines. One white, and 3 reds. First a classic Chardonnay, then we get a bit weird with a Carbonic style Nebbiolo, Then to an easy drinking Cabernet from the Wahluke Slope, followed by a robust Cab from Red Mountain.

Sage Rat Wines, Carbonic Nebbiolo, Yakima, WA    $29

Sage Rat is a small winery based in the Yakima Valley: the heart of grape growing for Washington State. Winemaker Dusty Jenkins plans to work primarily with Italian grapes in Yakima, citing climate and soil harmony, to make wines that are food-friendly and fun.Sage Rat started in the early days of 2020 with a goal to make young, refreshing, unique wines with limited intervention in the winemaking process. 

Ansel Wines, Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, WA  $25

2 dynamic wine makers got together with he mind set of finding amazing grapes from all over the Pacific Northwest. This is Cab sourced from the Washington side of the Columbia Valley. Light crunchy dark fruit, black pepper, well integrated tannins. Dark cherry and mineral notes. Medium bodied and smooth.

Upchurch, “LTL” Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Mountain, WA    $34

Notes of eucalyptus, blackberry, Provence herbs, and chocolate cherries on the nose. Big mouthfeel with balanced, resolved tannins. Round and rich on the palate, with a touch of toasty oak, plum brandy and earth tones. A great representation of Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. Upchurch Vineyard. Aged in 40% new French Oak barriques for 18 months.

Time: 2pm - 8pm or until the bottles run dry!
