Wine Tasting: Superb Sippers

Superb Sippers

Here is a lineup of superb sippers. Or champion chuggers!! I guess it depends on the day you have had! We go around the world to show of some cool vino. We will start near Barcelona Spain in the Penedes region with bubbly rose cava: crisp and delightful. Changing gears we move to the ancient grape Gruner Veltliner classically from Austria. Just a small swim over to Oregon, for a life changing Pinot Blanc… Then the reds… Try on an organic Spanish blend of Bobal and Tempranillo. Then we whisk away to Rhone France for a big rich Rhone blend. Finishing close to home, real close. Kent!!! Soos creek is a small family owned winery that buys grapes from all over Washington. A serious wine with oak aging. So. Clear your schedule and your palette and stop in!!!

@ Humble Vine on Saturday, November 3d 4:00 pm till the bottles are dry!

At Roca, Brut Rosat Reserva, Penedes Spain $15

balanced, fresh and pleasant cava. This vintage stands out for its refined nose, with notes of ripe white fruit, with a citrus touch on a background of traditional bakery. In the mouth, it is delicate, with fine bubbles and a dry finish.

Wagram, Gruner Veltliner, Burgenland Austria $14

The primary fruit flavors in Grüner Veltliner are lime, lemon and grapefruit. There is also a green and herbaceous flavor that is often described as white pepper. However, what makes Grüner Veltliner wine so unique is its signature vein of acidity that explodes in your mouth like pop rocks! Gotta check it out.

Helioterra, Pinot Blanc Willamette Oregon $21

this enters the palate with the clarity of a mountain lake. The clean and crisp fruit flavors of melon and white peach gently pull in accents of butter and caramel, without any single component dominating. It's very fine winemaking. Outstanding.

Sierra Norte Ananto, Bobal/Tempranillo, Requena Spain $12

All organic grapes, grown in vineyards west of Valencia at an altitude of 3,000 feet. These vineyards are influence by the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding mountains creating extreme temperature differences between day and night, great for natural acidity and ripeness.

Domaine La Rocaliere, “Initial R” Grenache/Syrah Rhone France $18

Grenache (80%), Syrah (20%). Notes of blackberry & baked strawberry, dark chocolate & “garrigues”. All biodynamic, and attention to detail and work ethic is evident. Full-bodied, energetic! Daaang.

Soos Creek, Sundance, Columbia Valley Washington $27

Cabernet Franc (54%) takes the lead on this blend, with the balance Merlot (29%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (17%). The aromas of flower, barrel spice and herb are light, with slightly dried-out raspberry and cherry notes lurking in the background. It also has a leathery top note. Flavors are super-smooth and palate-coating.
