French Wine Tasting

France

We are in France this week and are delighted to show off these ridiculous wines. We are hitting it hard with a lineup of crowd pleasers and connoisseur delights. The first wines are great values and are staples on the shelves. If you haven’t, this is the perfect time to try them! A sparkling Pinot Noir Rose, from way down south, will lead the pack. Staying pink, we try a still Syrah rose. We go off the deep end next, with 3 dark and Inky Rhone red blends. But the cherries on top are the fine Bordeaux. We will enjoy a 2005 Cabernet from The Haut-Medoc. Grrowwlll, and we finish with the 2012 Pomerol. A wine that must be tasted to be believed!

Try them @ Humble Vine Wednesday Dec. 5th. 4pm till the bottles are empty.

JL Denois Rose, Limoux France, $20

Organically grown. Hand-picked in small cases. Traditional Champagne Method.

Delicate salmon pink color with fine long-lasting mousse, typical Pinot Noir strawberry and raspberry aromas. Creamy and refreshing.

Domaine la Graveirette Ju De Vie Rose 2017 $13

Brand new from Awesome wine maker Julien Mus, comes “Ju de Vie” in the pink! The first vintage of this 100% Syrah is rich fruit foreword and straight delish. Dry but with red raspberries, and …bubble gum? Full bodied. And richly salmon colored from all that inky Syrah.

Domaine La Graveirette, Ju De Vie, Rhone France, $14

This is not, just another declassified Chateauneuf du Pape from the wrong side of the fence – this is a wine that stands on its own merit, proudly, as vin de table. A complex yet easy drinking wine, that focuses on the fruits, aged for a year in stainless steel and concrete, the tannins are subtle and balanced to allow the wine to show is lighter notes alongside a velvety texture that makes this such a pleasing wine

La Barrone, "Les Lanes", Corbieres FR $19

The estate is Certified organic and they farm according to Biodynamic principles. "Les Lanes" was vinified in stainless steel and aged six months before being bottled unfiltered. It is bright and fresh with lovely red fruit, earth and spice notes.

Domaine LaRocaliere, “Initial R” Grenache/Syrah Rhone France $18

Grenache (80%), Syrah (20%). Notes of blackberry & baked strawberry, dark chocolate & “garrigues”. All biodynamic, and attention to detail and work ethic is evident. Full-bodied, energetic! Daaang!

Chateau Aney, Haut-Medoc Bordeaux (Half Bottle) 2005!!! $19

A “Left Bank” Cabernet in a bright ruby robe, with a nose of subtle cedar, loam, and violets. Smooth in the mouth, with tastes of black cherry, hints of black currant, and vanilla. Nicely structured and a pleasure to drink Good length on the finish with black cherry, cedar. Gold Medal Winner from “Concours Mondial de Bruxelles”. Platinum record in my book.

2012 Château Gombaude-Guillot, Pomerol 2012 $75

Very dark, strong nose, first sip is outta the ballpark. Wow this is big, rich, damn good. Old world in style. Lots of wood and gravel but you get a hint of that licorice in the finish. “Right Bank” Merlot-Cab Franc that packs a punch,
