Winter Whiteout!!!
This tasting we feature all white wines!!! We embark on a journey through a few flavors off the beaten path. We will pop the corks on a fine sparkler wine from the Languedoc region in France and crack the caps on a Vinho Verde from Portugal. Then we dive into a grape called Folle Blanche from Pays Nantais France, then a grape named Jacquere, from Savoie France! We then pour a cool Roussillon blend and a classic Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. Enjoy!!!

JL Denois, Cuvee Classique Brut, Languedoc France $ 18
This cuvee, or blend, has a very nice, fresh and expressive bouquet. An unusual blend Chardonnay, Macabeu, Black Carignan and Syrah! A cuvée with evolved aromas, dominated by the notes of dried fruit and fresh almonds, still delivering touches of apple and a mineral tip.
FVINE, Vinho Verde, Portugal, $10
Young and fresh with an attractive prickle on the tongue, this medium-sweet Vinho Verde is well cut with acidity. Accented with apple and citrus, it is bright and ready to drink.
Michel Morilleau, Old Vine Folle Blanche, Pays Nantais France, $14
Folle Blanche (or Gros Plant) is the Muscadet region's “other” grape (not Melon de Bourgogne). As with this bottling, it makes light-alcohol wines that are crisp—almost tart—and perfect for seafood. The green apple and tight citrus flavors are zingy, and the wine is ready to drink.
Domaine de L’Idylle, Jacquere, Savoie France, $17
From 50-year-old vines of a grape called Jaquere. This fruity wine is both crisp and clean. And also full of warmer flavors like peach pie. Citrus, pear and apricot notes all mingle in this delicious, concentrated wine.
Oliver Pithon, Cuvee Lais, Cotes de Catalanes France, 2017 $26
A racy wine that is full bodied sand full flavored. Lais’ is the name of Olivier’s cow, a species from Northern France living in Catalonia. It sums up the wine: Freshness and vivacity from the north with richness from the south. This is a cool blend of Macabeu, Grenache Gris, and Grenace Blanc from the Roussillon Area.
The Ned, Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough New Zealand $19
A pretty Sauvignon Blanc that's easy to like, this shows a bright nose of limes, blossoms, stone fruit and a hint of jalapeño pepper. This will kick your brain out of winter. Drink this crisp, zippy sipper and think of green springs and lush orchards.
