Northwest Wine Academy, Müller Thurgau, 2017 $14
Müller-Thurgau is a white grape variety that was created by Hermann Müller from the Swiss Canton of Thurgau in 1882. It is a crossing of Riesling with Madeleine Royale. With fresh and bright acidity, this brilliant, white-gold libation starts with a refreshing air of honeysuckle and finishes with a lively punch of green apple and a kiss of lime on your palate.
Secret Squirrel, White Blend, 2015, $19
The Secret Squirrel White Blend has lovely aromas of orange blossoms, white peaches, and cracked stones. The palate is medium bodied, as Rhone grapes tend to be weightier than say Sauvignon Blanc or even Chardonnay, even in this case where no new oak is used. The texture is very soft, and there are flavors of apricots, bosc pears, galangal root, with hints of cracked white pepper and roasted nuts. It finishes dry and clean, with a little minerality.
Northwest Wine Academy, Blaufrankisch, 2015 $14
Blaufränkisch is grown mostly in Austria, where it makes a spicy red wine that can be graceful yet intense, complex yet tangy and refreshing. Blaufränkisch is also grown in Germany, where it is called Lemberger.
Even five years ago, Blaufränkisch wines were not easy to find in the United States. Now that has all changed – this is their third Blaufränkisch vintage. It’s light-bodied and subtle, beautifully balanced with smoky, spicy fruit flavors with a touch of cinnamon and a rippling acidity.
Two Mountain, Lemberger, 2016 $18
Inviting flavors of pepper, fig and boysenberry mesmerize your nose while your palate is entertained with pepper, white pepper and raspberry with the slightest hints of vanilla that frame this delightful wine.
Secret Squirell, GSM, 2015 $25
it has a lovely nose, exhibiting bits of candied red fruits, pretty floral notes of lavender, and hints of spice. The structure is exceptionally easy drinking, with a very smooth texture on the palate, and medium body. Up front, it shows flavors of soft berries, with hints of jam and cherry lozenge. The background is filled with light suggestions of tobacco, tar, dried leaves, and herbs. Overall, it’s a very pleasurable wine, mostly dominated by tasty berry notes, with slight tertiary earth notes.
Kerloo, Majaestic, 2015 $26
Our beloved Majestic is back and the 2015 vintage is tasting exceptional! On the nose you get leather, black cherries, plums, black pepper, and earth. On the palate it's bright and spicy with salty red cherry notes (I know, just trust us on that one), dusty roses, tobacco, light baking spices, and wet minerals. The mouthfeel is smooth and silky. Your mouth is left watering for more. Pair this lovely GSM blend with pretty much anything.
