Sauv BLancs

Sauvignon Blanc!!!

Did you know May 25th is National Wine Day?!!!! So if you forgot to celebrate we can help you out. Also Memorial Day is poking its head around the corner, and we want to be ready..... With a fridge full of Sauvignon Blanc!!! Let’s run around the world and taste an array of this radical Juice.

Sauvignon blanc is a green-skinned grape variety that originates from the Bordeaux region of France. The grape most likely gets its name from the French words Sauvage ("wild") and blanc ("white"). Sauv Blanc is planted in many of the world's wine regions, producing a crisp, dry, and refreshing white wine. We go into a few of these regions so we can compare the difference in style.

Come in and check out these super Sauvignon Blancs @ Humble Vine Saturday May 25th. 4pm-8pm

Barons, Columbia Valley, WA 2016 $18

The aromas of high-toned herbs, butter and toast seem to show some oxygen exposure, giving a latex-paint smell and leading to elegantly styled pineapple, kiwi and papaya flavors. It's tropical fruit in a glass.

Stolpman, Ballard Canyon, California, 2016 $21

Crisp, yet smooth and already enticingly pleasurable, the 2016 Sauvignon Blanc fits the bill for a fresh, pure-driven white. Over the coming months after release, the Sauvignon Blanc gains further weight and texture, with Limestone-driven chalk beginning to shine through the wine's fruit purity. For now, a primary spectrum of Meyer lemon, fresh lemonade, and lemon custard shine in a concentrated yet softly balanced body.

Leah Jorgensen, "The Mermaid", 2017, Rogue Valley, Oregon $21

This delightful and refreshing wine is atypical in all the right ways. Intensely aromatic, it conveys a lush mix of honeysuckle, sweet hay, smoke, lime and honeydew melon. And that's before you take the first sip. The low alcohol and bright acidity set it up for a wide range of poultry, pasta and seafood options, and anything with goat cheese is sure fire.

Patricia Greene, 2017 Willamette Valley, Oregon $24

This has high-toned and heavily fruited aromatics along with the tinge of straw and minerals which is what ripe Sauvignon Blanc should have as its varietal typicity. The strength of the aromatics resounds in the glass as the wine is deeply fruited with tropical notes at the entry giving way to apples with crisp acidity on the finish. The wine is bright and fresh but retains an enormous amount of texture and richness without being heavy.

Ghost Block, “Morgaenlee Vineyard” Yountville Napa, California 2016 $25

This bright, tempting, and silky sur lie aged Sauvignon Blanc boasts aromatics of ripe stone fruits, mainly white peach and honeydew melon. The wine has lively acidity of white grapefruit and subtle hints of peach and clove, with a citrus core. This single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc exhibits classic Napa Valley flavors, with a complex long –lasting, refreshing finish.

Marisco, “The Ned”, Waihopai Valley, New Zealand 2017 $19

This medium-bodied Sauvignon Blanc is slightly leafy in style, but balances that with lush citrus fruit. The crushed tomato stalk and grapefruit come together in a dry, harmonious finish that's mainstream delicious. Drink now.
