First, we dip our toes into the North, Langhe Piedmont for some Zippy whites. All three wines are made from different grapes: Nebbiolo, Arneis, and Favorita! Then we compare 3 red blends from various regions up and down the boot. Come in and delight your senses as we taste through Italy! Wed June 20th, 4pm-8pm.

 

Corsini Langhe Rosato, Langhe 2017 $16

This rose of 100% Nebbiolo is from Italy's Piedmont region. It offers complex aromas of strawberry and raspberry fruit and also on the palate, there are also hints of floral and citrus zest and lots of minerality. Medium bodied, tremendously refreshing, this wine and is the perfect accompaniment to any summer evening! Don't wait on this one, it won't last long.

 

Nada, Langhe Bianco, 2016 $19

Straw yellow in color with soft golden reflections. It is a full-bodied white wine that distinguishes itself with a very intense bouquet. The bouquet is floral with notes of yeast and bread crust. The taste is very fresh and delicate with a long finish. The Sauvignon Blanc brings an agreeable crispness to this wine. 

 

Malvira, Langhe Favorita, 2015 $24

Straw yellow with slightly golden tints. Aromas of pineapple, fresh fruits and white flowers.

Elegant and aromatic, is a vibrant and complex white that shows notes of citrus, white flowers, melon, peaches and lemon. Fruity and fresh with a pleasant, wonderfully tart finish.

 

Streppaticcio, Barbi, Umbria, 2015 $13

60% Montepulciano, 40% Sangiovese. This is a medium-bodied red with smooth tannins that is very accessible in its youth. It goes particularly well with grilled meat, ham, salami and soft cheeses.

 

Il Negrese Gutternio, Emilio Romagna, 2015 $16

This Cool wine is 60% Barbera and 40% Croatina. It is rom the Lombardy region of Italy which is just east of Piedmont, with Milan as its capital. The wine is Round and Juicy. Lots of fresh cherries, a warm and intense fragrance of blackberry, blueberry, blackcurrant, refreshed and spiced with references to laurel leaves and a strawberry tree

 

Avignonesi Cantalro, Tuscany, 2014 $18

A blend of Italian and international varieties, this wine displays rich, yet fragrant fruity aromas, intertwined with notes of Mediterranean herbs and subtle spicy hints.

A versatile red wine with a ruby red color and a bouquet characterized by inviting aromas of black cherry pie, black berries, thyme, red pepper grains and exotic spices. The taste is medium-bodied, fruity and smooth with a long lingering, dry finish, reminiscent of undergrowth, with an underlying hint of mint.
