Wine Tasting

Vinum W/ Jessica

“Founded in 2004, Vinum is headquartered in Seattle, WA., importing and distributing quality wines from France, Portugal and beyond. It is our mission to discover wine, beer, spirits, cider and sake from artisan producers around the world and introduce them to you.”

Come listen in, as Jessica tells us all she knows about the wine world of Spain! High end blends from great wine makers. From all over Northern Spain:  Rioja, Galicia, Montsant, Mencia, and Priorat. Oh My!!! The whites are a contrast, bright zesty Godello, versus an almost Burgundian White Rioja. For the reds, one light bodied, while others want to rip your taste buds off your toungue.  Cool!

Let us whirl you away to sunny Spain @Humble Vine Saturday, September 29, 4pm-8pm

Viña Reboreda, Godello $16

100% Godello from 40-year-old vines planted in chalky-clay soils on steep slopes overlooking the Miño River. This is a medium-bodied, fresh, complex and mineral wine that displays the typical savory character of the variety. This almost clear colored Godello is very good. It opens with a mild banana bouquet with a hint of wet stone. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile is a ripe Anjou pear and walnut blend with notes of gentle minerality and hints of lime. The finish is dry, and its acidity and flavors linger.

Valenciso, Rioja Blanco $39

A very special wine. A white Rioja!! A superb blend. An exceptional, classic, fine white Rioja from 80-year-old vines in Rioja Alta. Complex aromas combining floral characters with preserved lemon, truffle and smoky notes. The palate is intense and broad with nuts, stone fruit characters, candied peel, minerality and balancing citrus acidity on the finish.

Josep Grau, Spanish Red "Volador", $16

This dark red colored Spanish blend is a very good value. It opens with a red raspberry bouquet with a hint of ripe cranberry and pomegranate. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and easy to drink. The flavor profile is a mild mineral infused strawberry with hints of red raspberry. The finish is dry and pleasant.

Losada, Mencia $21

Now for a wine that wants to rip your face off! Ripe, fleshy, minerally blackberry and black-cherry aromas are pure, deep and suggest high quality that's confirmed later on. In the mouth, this Mencía from an excellent vintage is racy and pumped up, with acidic energy and tannic grab. Roasted black-fruit flavors come with notes of spice cake and salt. A long, full finish confirms how good this is

Pasanau Ceps Nous, Priorat $21

The peppery and fresh 2014 Ceps Nous is a blend of 70% Garnacha, 21% Merlot and 9% Syrah from young vines produced in a fresh and fruit-driven style. It fermented in stainless steel and matured in used French oak barrels for some four to six months. It's 15.4% alcohol but quite juicy and balanced, and the alcohol is not noticeable, although it's clearly not a shy wine. Very good in its style. Savory and spicy notes of licorice, cigar box and cardamom frame a deep core of plum and kirsch in this expressive red. Firm tannins and balsamic acidity impart a solid structure.
