Richard, Cremant du Jura “Hermione”, Jura France $29
100 Chardonnay. Floral and white-fleshed fruit notes. A pleasant sensation of very fine bubbles with fruity and fresh aromas. From 35 year old vine Chardonnay. Hand harvested at the end of October. Aged between almost 3 years on the lees (lees = spent yeasts cells) before bottling and disgorgement (disgorgement = getting the yeasts out to make the wine clear)
Arndorfer, “Vorgeschmack” White, Kaptal Austria $26
Aromatic, crisp, perfect aperitif! Vorgeschmack means ‘appetizer’ in German. The wine is 80% Gruner with the rest made up of Riesling, which adds a bit of zip and lime. We’re loving Austrian wines at the moment and this is no exception.
Arndorfer, “Vorgeschmack” Rose, Kampala Austria $26
100% Rotburger juice sits 14 hours on the skins to extract the bright cherry fruit character of the grape. After pressing this wine, which is fermented with native yeast they add some skins of Grüner Veltliner, to extract the spicy character of Grüner and add some tannins. A little bit of neutral French oak (used barrels).Very little sulfur, and no fining or filtration.
Bois D’Arlene, “Le Berger”, Mediterranee France $22
100% Serine (a special Syrah) Dark red color with purple reflections. The bouquet we will discover is a beautiful palette of fresh black fruits, with notes of spices and aromas of Garrigues. On the nose, this cuvée is dark and complex with notes of black berries and pepper. Has a touch of slightly roasted fruits. Probably cuz it is hot as heck in the Mediterranee!
Cruse, Money Jacket, California $26
53% Valdiguié 47% old vine Carigñan. A red California field blend of Petite Sirah, and Tannat. The wine has a bright ruby rim, with rich burgundy hues and a youthful, serious nose of crushed strawberries and bramble with bass notes of olive and leather. The palate is late summer in California, sunny and dry, with concentrated dried fruit. The finish is clean and ends with spicy raspberry and rhubarb.
