Washington
We don’t need to go far to find great wine in this state. The wines presented before you on this day are all fantastic representations of what great Washington wine can be. We get into four different varietals. Let's get into a crisp Sauvignon Blanc with 40 year old vines, A Viognier with genes from France, my new favorite Merlot, and a stunning Syrah from Walla Walla! Wow, all in one place - on one evening….

Bergevin Lane, “Linen” Sauvignon Blanc, Columbia Valley Washington $17
39-year-old Sauvignon Blanc vines planted in 1983! Straw yellow in color with crisp citrus, candied pear and green apple aroma'cs that make your mouth water. Balanced flavors of pear, grapefruit, granny smith apples with a wisp of peach on the finish.
Novelty Hill, Viognier, Columbia Valley Washington $23
Single vineyard Viognier from Stillwater Creek. The clone originally came from Tablas Creek cuttings (California) imported by way of Château de Beaucastel (France)!!! It is planted on a moderately sloped section of the vineyard with large chunks of fractured basalt found throughout the sandy loam. The aromas are bright, with notes of flower, pear, peach and honeysuckle. Ripe stone fruit flavors follow, with the acidity of the vintage keeping it all in check.
Novelty Hill, Merlot, Columbia Valley Washington $24
Winemaker Mike Januik! If you forgot how good Merlot was, try this shining example. Ripe, aromatic notes of wild raspberry, red currant and a hint of cocoa fill the glass, gaining focus and concentration on the palate. Richly textured with supple, refined tannins that stretch across a satisfying finish. I am thinking this would be great with steak. I was blown away when I sampled this new vintage…
Elephant Seven, Syrah, Walla Wallla Washington $33
This is a blend from two different vineyards, although both have very similar terroir. This is intended to be a fresher style of Syrah that can be enjoyed in its youth. 10 Months in about 15% New French Oak Hightoned aromatics of lavender, violets, and dried herbs on the nose. Velvety blue and black fruit fold nicely into savory tones of scorched earth, iodine, and black olive. Great acidity keeps this lively and effusive on the long finish.
