Wine Tasting: $20
Dry Creek, Chenin Blanc Clarksburg, California $19
At first swirl, aromatics of honeydew, watermelon and pineapple spring forward from the glass with floral notes of jasmine and honeysuckle. On the palate, the wine has refreshing flavors of cucumber, lime and nectarine with hints of geranium, sweet basil and ripe orange. The mouthfeel is soft but inviting, with a lively acidity.
Bonny Doon, Le Cigar Red Volant Monterey, California $18
This classic, pioneering Rhône red continues inspiring the masses. The blend of 65% Grenache, 18% Syrah, 15% Cinsaut and 2% Petite Sirah starts with crisp red currant, crumple flower and cracked white pepper aromas. The palate is young, fresh and tense, offering raspberry jam dusted in lavender and delicate baking spices.
Rutherford Hill, Merlot Napa, California $26
Blackberry, cassis and black currant with hints of black tea leaves, Asian spice and graphite. Full- bodied entry with layers of blueberry, spiced boysenberry and mocha all coupled to well-integrated, rich tannins that give way to a rich, round, smooth finish.
Tablas Creek, Cotes de Tablas Paso Robles, California $44
An immediately appealing nose of sugarplum and wild strawberry, herbs de Provence and charcuterie. The mouth shows notes of milk chocolate and red cherry, deepened with olive tapenade and sweet green herbs. Some youthful Grenache tannins come out on the long, juicy finish.
