Around the World Winter Whites!

Wild and whimsical white wines to help warm our winter woes. We look into four different countries for four different varietals. Austrian Roter Veltliner, Washington Viognier, French Chenin Blanc, and Italian Arneis! I would love to sit by the fireplace, read book whilst’ polishing of a glass or 3 of these wonderful winter whites. Come in and check them out!

@ Humble Vine

January, 31st

2-8 PM

Wine Tasting: $20

Leth, Roter Veltliner       Wagram, Austria        $22.00

A fun red grape that makes white wines! It’s thought to have come to Austria from northern Italy via the Romans,, but its genetic origins are an unsolved puzzle. Subtle nose of red apple and sweet melon. A juicy, tropical fruit mix on the palate with a perfect balance of acid and a wisp of lime confectionary. Warm, creamy spice that lingers.

Lucius, Viognier    Columbia Valley, Washington      $22.00

A new winery to us, only a few years old. A wonderful Viognier that has sat for a few days on its skins. Great flavors of peach stones, ripe honeycrisp apples, and white raspberry. Round and full bodied because of the extra skin contact. Great mouth clearing acids. Zesty but not tart with a persistent finish

Tête de la Rouge, “Tete d’Ange” Chenin Blanc,  Saumur -Loire Valley, France   $29.00

A Biodynamic wine with no added sulfur. A mix of citrus and wool on the nose, peach skin, honey and wet rocks on the palate, waxy texture and looong finish. Straw yellow color with green reflection. The nose is of all baked quince, ripe pineapple and white flowers, notes of citrus fruits arrive in the end. On the mouth it feels lush, the maturity of the fruit is certainly there, though this Chenin is completely dry

Cascina Luisin, “Ave” Arneis        Piedmont, Italy    $32.00

I love Arneis, the main white grape of Piedmont. Titled Ave meaning 'be well' or ‘farewell'. This has been carefully raised in steel on its fine lees and bottled after one year, just let it settle and fuse with all the flavors. Rich but controlled, it offers classic notes of crunchy apricot and anise, with a beam of rippling acidity keeping it dynamic and brisk… Oh yah…

Time: 2pm - 8pm or until the bottles run dry!
