South America

4 fun wines from South America! We will be tasting two wines from Chile, and two wines from Argentina. Starting with a rose of a native Chilean grape called Pais, then onto a Cabernet from Argentina, staying with Argentina for a classic Malbec, then back to Chile for another (almost) native grape Carmenere!

@ Humble Vine

October 4th

2-8 PM

Wine Tasting: $20

Viña Echeverría “No es Pituko” Rosé,    Curico Valley Chile    $18

'No es Pituko'; is Chilean slang for 'it ain't fancy'; reflecting the fact that this wine was vinified naturally, without any additions at any stage. The Pais grapes for this wine come from a single vineyard of ungrafted old vines. Dry natural rosé wine with berry and tropical fruit flavors, mild red floral notes, and a little prickle on the palate!

Santa Julia, Cabernet Sauvignon,   Mendoza Argentina   $12

This Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Santa Julia's organic vineyards. Appealing aromas of eucalyptus, red and black fruits on the nose grow into a palate full of black cherries and currants with touch of black and sweet pepper. Medium bodied, well balanced wine with soft tannins and long finish.

Manos Negras, Malbec,    Uco Valley, Argentina    $18

What makes these wines stand out are their native yeast fermentation without flavor enhancers or chemical additions. A more natural style Malbec that is energetic and fruity, but also savory and refreshing. Classic aromas and flavors of plum, maraschino cherry, orange zest, and vanilla. The body is med/full, with finely grained tannins and a succulent, fleshy palate.

Los Vascos, “Cromas” Carmenere Gran Reserva,   Colchagua ValleyChile   $24

Although originaly from Bordeaux France, Carmenere has spread its roots in Chile. Before Phyloxxera destroyed most of the vines in Europe in the late 1800’s, someone smuggled these vines over to South America! Lucky for Carmenere. Deep color with a touch of ruby. On the nose, the wine is balanced and complex with several levels of aromas like blackberries and ripe plums, toasted notes of nutmeg, graphite and the classic roasted red pepper typical of the variety. Naked for 12 months this baby has class…

Time: 2pm - 8pm or until the bottles run dry!
