Devils Night

  • Humble Vine 824 SW 152nd Street (map)

Halloween……

OK my witches and warlocks. Devils night is upon us. The one night a year where we need not hide behind our facades. Here is a lineup that is as delicious, as it is evil. A Gewurtztraminer that is Double Trouble, A Syrah that is Jet Black as night without a moon. Then the Big Red Monster is revealed right before the feverish Transylvanian dream… Come if you dare, taste if you are brave, and revel in the heinous delights of All Hallows Eve.

@ Humble Vine

October 25th

2-8 PM

Wine Tasting: $20

Le Doubblé Troubblé, Gewurtztraminer, Columbia Gorge, Washington $29

Devils night can mean double trouble if you run out of candy, or wine. So here is a great option to fill your goody bag. A Washington Gorge Gewurtztraminer! Far from the sweet version we often see in the grocery store. (Not that three anything wrong with that..) This guy is high class. Fresh alpine meadow flowers, mixed with lilac, and a crisp grapefruit palate. The white pepper spiciness and wet river stone minerality add to the finish.

Alexandria Nicole, Jet Black Syrah, Columbia Valley Washington,  $25

How much more black can this be? And the answer is: none more black…Single Vineyard syrah from Destiny Ridge Vineyard. The fruit is hand-picked and fermented with 15% whole clusters to achieve a beautifully balanced wine. On the nose, this wine comes alive with blueberry, ripe blackberry, Bing cherry while the subtle oak influence reveals hints of baking spice, chocolate, and clove.

Big Red Monster, Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles, California.    $20 CA

This savage beast hails from Paso Robles. A powerful yet friendly red wine. Clean lines of black currant, crushed slate, light cocoa, char and oregano hit the nose, while the palate amplifies that herbal edge, with rich milk-chocolate and black-fruit flavors. 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petite Verdot, 10% Petite Sirah.

Budureasca, Transylvanian Dream,  Romania $32

Grown on the hills, but aged in the dungeons of Transylvania. Did Dracula himself plant these vineyards. There’s no way to tell… This wine is awesome. A blend of native varietals from Romania. Blood red color, with black cherries and rosemary aromas. Full-bodied wine, showing a taste of forest fruits and fruit pie, with a pleasant finish. No Garlic was used.

Time: 2pm - 8pm or until the bottles run dry!
