ITALY
Wow What a lineup… We start with a gorgeous bottle of Prosecco Rose, then to a fantastic white GAvi made from Cortese, then into Valpolicella for a Ripasso where the ‘repass’ the grapes through thevpomace/must/spent grape skins and seeds after fermentation to add an extra richness, then… to the King of wines: Barolo!!!!

Pizzolato, “Paloma” Prosecco Rose Brut Veneto, Italy $18
This delicious and unique “Rosé Prosecco” is 95% organic Glera and 5% organic Raboso. It is a bright steely amber color with fruity aromas and flavors of raspberry, white peach, ripe pear, moss, and shale. It has a round, crisp, effervescent, fruity light-to-medium body and a smooth, medium-length lemon curd, rich honey, and elderflower finish. Lively fruits and a creamy mouthfeel give an impression of decadence in this friendly sparkler
La Ghibellina, “Mainin” Gavi Piedmont, Italy $24
With oceans of mediocre Gavi out there it is a treat when you find a really good one, like this La Ghibellina. Made from 100% estate grown Cortese, fermented and aged in stainless steel. An almost Chablis-like mineral with a wine of quality such as this one. Rich and herbal with chamomile, turmeric, orange zest, wet stones, and mouthwatering acidity.
Tenuta Sant’ Antonio, “Paradiso” Ripasso Veneto Rosso Valpolicella, Ialy $23
Aromas of Maraschino cherries, small red berries and candied fruit. Hints of spicy notes such as black pepper, liquorish, cocoa and tobacco. Intriguing and bold with good structure and lots of dark forest fruit on the palate. Layered tannins and pleasant acidity together with notes of dark chocolate ticks all the boxes to make this an extraordinary wine, a true baby Amarone
Stroppiana, “Cesare” Barolo Piedmont, Italy $35
Barolo, the "King of Wines."!! Barolo is a town in Piedmont of North west Italy, and also the name of the wine that utilizes 100 % Nebbiolo grapes. Deep ruby in color with garnet reflections, this Barolo opens with aromas of violets, dried berries, and red licorice. On the palate, flavors of ripe plum, red cherries, leather, and vanilla bean combine with fine tannins, creating a youthful yet elegant structure. The finish is long and layered with hints of cedar and black pepper. With 24 months aging in French oak and another 12 months in bottle, this wine truly represents Barolo's aging potential and complexity.
