Folk Machine, Chenin Blanc Clarksburg, California $19
From Merritt Island in Clarksburg, this wine strikes a wonderful balance between California's lushness and Chenin's sharp acid and mineral character. It's textural and refined, a touch lush on the nose but lean on the palate. Quintessential waxy texture and honeyed notes of apple and pear. Excellent acidity keeps this fresh and food friendly.
Daou Vineyards, Rose Paso Robles, California $20
a pretty pale flamingo hue with scintillating aromas of fresh strawberry, guava, crème brûlée and honeysuckle. Subtle ginger notes are accompanied by cranberry, rhubarb, cherry blossom and lemon meringue. A dry rose with made from gently pressed Grenache grapes in the classic Old World style.
Walt, Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills, California $42
This wine's expressive perfume of ripe, vibrant fruit is underscored by notes of garrigue herbs and spicy clove. A fresh, lively structure complements the ripe cherry and pomegranate flavors. Bold and charged with energy, the wine finishes with a hint of salinity.
