Pazo Cilleiro, Albarino Rias Baixas, Spain $21
The grapes are selected from small vineyards around the winery in Salnés Valley—in the heart of Rias Baixas, along Spain’s northwest coast. Pazo Cilleiro has an intense nose, with pronounced notes of citrus, pears, apples and white peaches, as well as hints of honeysuckle bloom. This is a smooth and easy-going wine—the palate is vibrant and fresh with a round, persistent and pleasantly refreshing finish.
Peccadillo, Rioja Blanca $25
A unique take on Rioja. It’s all Tempranillo fermented via carbonic maceration to bring out the ripe red and black fruit. Then it’s aged just a few months in 100% new French oak, adding layers of dark chocolate and spice but not much in the way of extra tannins. The juicy acids keep the fruit fresh and forward while the oak spice builds on the easygoing finish. Give it a chill for more refreshment or let it warm up to enjoy more richness.
