Southern Hemisphere

We flip upsidedown to taste these wines from the Southern Hemisphere! We try a sparkling wine from Chile, a classic New Zealand Sauv Blanc, then over to Argentina for a Mendoza Malbec, and we finish with a Syrah from South Africa!

2-8 PM

Wine Tasting: $20

Viña Echeverria 'Wild' PetNat        Curicó Valley, Chile       $25

Mineral rich soils of this region, with organic grapes. Chardonnay done in the ancestral method takes on a rich, ripe mango flavor, which might be too much if the bubbles didn't diffuse the intense fruit.  Instead, it's juicy and lifted, with that ripe mango plus apple and citrus, and cool herbal note on the finish.

Saint Claire, Sauvignon Blanc         Marlborough, New Zealand            $24

Pale Straw. Tropical notes of passionfruit, guava and blackcurrant combine with nettle and subtle chalky mineral notes. A rich full palate of tropical flavours including passionfruit guava and blackcurrant leading to a long mineral lingering finish.

Nomad, Sarel, Syrah           Elgin, South Africa $30

100% Syrah from South Africa! Spends 9 months in old oak French barrels before being blended and bottled. &0 of the fruit was left on the stems to add structure.  A full bodied wine that can age well. The palate reveals notes of spice, black pepper, blackberry, and plum.

El Enemigo, Malbec            Mendoza, Argentina $30

One of my favorite Argentina wines. Rich and concentrated, it offers aromas of black fruit, cherry and dark berries on the nose, followed in the palate with flavors of spice, blackberry, black cherry, pepper and a slight floral character. Full Bodied. The finish is elegant and lengthy. 90% Malbec, 8% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot

Time: 2pm - 8pm or until the bottles run dry!
