Drink WA Wine Month
More Washington wines please! OK!.. Let’s jump into a Sparkling wine from the kids at Tirriddis, a sparkling only winery in Prosser. Then we galavant through an Albarino from Palencia. We tumble towards the Erica Orr made Merlot from Baer, and we sprint through the finish line with Mullan Road’s (Cakebread of Napa) Cabernet Sauvignon. What a lineup!!

Wine Tasting: $20
Tirriddis, House Blanc Columbia Valley, Washington $21
This is a sparkling blend of 96% Chardonnay and 2% each of Albarino and Pinot Gris. A column of small bubbles delivers clean and fresh aromas of lemon zest, ginger and traces of chalkboard dust. Dazzling peach and pink-grapefruit flavors are joined by notes of basil and roasted pistachios. Dry and crisp finish.
Palencia, Albarino Ancient Lakes, Washington $19
The aromas of lemon twist and tropical fruit intensify in this wine as the floral attractive notes invigorate the senses with its exotic appeal. Albariño is predominant white varietal in the Northwestern region of Spain. This aromatic white wine grape shines in the renowned caliche soils of Washington Ancient Lakes AVA.
Baer, “Star” Merlot Stillwater Creek Vineyard, Columbia Valley, Washington $37
Witha masters degree in Enology and a bachelors in Biochemistry Erica Orr has learned a thing or 2 about making fantastic wines. This single vineyard merlot is aged 22 months in French oak. Aromas of black raspberries and a mineral chalkiness ride glass. A rich black cherry flavor is countered by bursts of pipe tobacco and chocolate-covered espresso beans. Plush tannins and a smooth, creamy texture. Big. Bold. Baer.
Mullan Road Cellars, Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley, Washington $37
From the makers of Cakebread wines of Napa, comes a Cabernet with sultry aromas of muddled red fruits, raspberry, and dried strawberry with hints of light baking spices. Swirling brings up notes of crème brûlée with black tea, mocha, and cocoa powder. The palate is round and polished, with black currants and plum puree accented by vanilla bean and balanced by fine tannins. Hints of dark chocolate and pressed berries linger on the finish.
