Matthews, Sauvignon Blanc Columbia Valley, Washington $29
Mathews has been around a while and make great Washington wines. They got a new winemaker a few years back and is new vintages are here! A scintillating, lively nose of lime, melon, green apple and hints of quince, with a racy background of grapefruit and herbs. The palate is bright, crisp and steely, driven by bracing acidity and a lacing of minerality.
Gilbert Cellars, Pinot Noir Nouveau Horse Heaven Hills, Washington $24
Pinot Noir inspired by red wines hailing from Beaujolais, France. Carbonic maceration initiates fermentation, leading to a lean, highly aromatic wine that falls somewhere between a rosé and light-bodied red. Unfined and unfiltered.
Gilbert Cellars, “Left Bank” Red Horse Heaven Hills, Washington $21
Left bank refers to the Cab driven blends of Bordeaux. This wine blends Cabernet Sauvignon (48%), Merlot (43%), Malbec (5%), and Petit Verdot (4%). It comes to life with a fleshy palate of dark fruit and subtle earthy notes. Enjoy with good food, friends and lively conversation.
Terra Blanca, “Signature” Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain, Washington $55
I love Terra Blanca. Great wines, great value. They purchased land in Red Mountain (which wouldn’t be an official wine region until 2001) in 1992, planted vineyards and eventually created a wine making facility. This is there high end line the “Signature”. Aromas of violet, raspberry, black cherry, plum, and cedar surround flavors of cherry, blackberry, ripe black currant, and chocolate.
