Le Morette, Bardolino Classico Veneto, Italy $21
Fro The hills of Verona were Valpolicella lies. The town of Bardolino grows grapes that are pale ruby in color and captures attention with it’s captivating aromas and lingering flavors that deliver a wine that is as memorable as it is enjoyable. Well balanced flavors are dry and spicy with a slightly bitter finish. Valpolicella is usually a blend of the 3 classic grapes (Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara ), but this is 100% Corvina!
Rapitala, Alto Reale Sicily, Italy $21
Grown at an altitude of 550 meters (1800 feet), this single vineyard 100% Nero D’Avola wine is a dark wine made with organic grapes. Fresh, and smooth with medium-plus acid, ripe tannin, and a medium-to full body. Cherry, blackberry, plum, blueberry, licorice, pepper, sweet tobacco, and vanilla excite the palate.
Fonterutoli, Chianti Classico Tuscany, Italy $30
90% Sangiovese blended with small parts Malvasia Nera and Colorino, all aged in oak for an easy 12 months. This wine offers a classic interpretation of Chianti with bright fruit, lots of cherry and background tones of earth. Perfumed, with flowers, dark berries and some raspberries. Medium-bodied with a solid core of fruit and firm tannins. Hints of chocolate and berries. Flavorful finish. Needs a little time to open, but already precise and focused
Raineri, Barolo Piedmont, Italy $50
Barolo is made from Nebbiolo, the king of Italian wines. Age-ablitiy is in the decades. Flavor is very intense and very persistent, tannic, and full-bodied. The nose has dried rose, balsamic, mushrooms, ripe fruit and tobacco and a hint of street tar! In the best way. We want to let this guy breath for an hour or so before chugging. But then…. Oh Man!!!!
