France
Vive la France! We are excited to bring this wonderful French tasting. An outstanding Rosé, from the only red grape allowed in Alsace: Pinot Noir. Onto the stunning Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre in the Loire from the famed village of Chavignol. Then a very exciting Gamay that is super affordable. And lastly, the dark Tannat based wine of Madiran, in the south west.

Domaine Ansen, Rosé de Pinot Noir Alsace, France $25
By law, this wine is 100% Pinot Noir, and comes from a small plot of vines in clay soils. After hand-harvesting the fruit, it starts natural fermentation from both direct press and saignee. After resting for nearly 6 months in tank, the wine is bottled and ready for release. Bottled in late May, this gorgeous rosé is loaded with fresh red berries, purple flowers, and a slightly earthy forest floor nuance that is mysterious and enticing. The palate is full of flavors like small fresh strawberries, juicy red cherries, rocks, flowers, and dust.
Domaine Thierry Véron,, Sancerre “Chavignol” Loire Valley $36
Made from Sauvignon Blanc, the only grape used for all the whites of Sancerre. This is a dry, fruity wine, full of freshness and vivacity. Grown in the famed village of Chavignol, the heart of Sancerre. This wine has pungent and in your face aromas, from freshly cut grass and pears, to tropical and ripe passion fruit and grapefruit. This has a real racy acidity and it will be great with chèvre, the region's most famous cheese!
Uva Non Grata, Gamay France $16
For centuries maligned, mistreated, and misunderstood, Gamay was outlawed by Philip the Bold in Burgundy in 1395. Some vignerons rebelled, hiding forbidden Gamay vines among the “noble” Pinot Noir vines. In their honor, they have “released” the deliberately disruptive Gamay, bottled without appellation and without any rules! A soft, bouncy, ripe Gamay. This is a no-fuss wine that is an irresistible fruit bomb packed with amazing primary fruit aromas and delicious soft red berry flavors. A truly gorgeous Gamay!
Labranche-Laffont, Madiran "Cuvee Tradition” Madiran, Sud Ouest, France $22
Christine Dupuy took over Domaine Labranche Laffont in 1993, becoming the youngest female winemaker in the region. The red Madiran is deep, with aromas of spices, leather, and dark chocolate. The palate brings ripe, soft fruits and licorice, and an elegant framework with fine tannins. Hand harvested grapes from 50 year old Tannat vines. Organic, vegan, low sulfur. 70% Tannat, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
