Washington Red Blends
WASHINGTON WINE MONTH…
Why have just one grape when you can have a blend?! Much like in Bordeaux France where blending is key, thee wines showcase a complex variety of grapes chosen to comment each other in the final taste. These are some of our favorite wine companies. Go Washington!

Sodo, Wingman GSM $17
A classic GSM made by our favorite local (Burien) winemaker, Ryan Crane (Kerloo). His new Wingman blend opens up with notes of Bing cherry, cranberry, allspice, clove, freshly churned soil, dried leaves, eucalyptus and smoke. On the palate this wine is medium bodied; has focused acidity, silky back-end tannins and a slight salinity with a spicy and lingering finish. This wine is comprised Den Hoed, Red Willow Vineyard, and Lonesome Spring Ranch Vineyards.
Helix, “Tucker Legacy” Red $19
This Blend includes a mix of unnamed grapes from around the Columbia valley. It’s a substantial red, dark in color and showing real density and muscle. Most likely this includes a fair amount of Cabernet and a side order of Syrah; whatever the actual blend it brings generously ripe flavors of black fruits and cassis with a finishing lick of espresso. A lovely layer of blackberry, and red currant flow with a delicate herbal lace from start to finish.
Guardian Chalk Line, Blend $27
This vintage of Chalk Line is full of notes of blackberry, black cherry, and mocha. This classic Washington blend comprised of 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Syrah, 26% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot is expressive and rich. Swirl and smell the hints of dark roast coffee beans and cigar box on the nose. This wine is dense and concentrated, yet extremely balanced. The tannins are refined and lovely. This super fun blend was aged 19 months on 33% new French oak.
Pursued By Bear, Bear Cub $35
The 2019 Bear Cub is a fresh, youthful wine bursting with ripe, sun-kissed summer berries and a hint of baking spice. Richly textured, layers of dark cherry, juicy boysenberry, and roasted coffee dance across a balanced mid-palate. Lively and easy drinking but with enough structure to prove this little fella can go the distance. Blend: 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Syrah
