Stift Klosterneuburg, Sparkling Gruner Brut Klosterneuburg, Austria $20
Stift Klosterneuburg is Austria's oldest winery, established in 1114! This traditional method sparkling wine, known as Grüner Veltliner Reserve Brut, is made from Austria's signature grape variety. It impresses with its delicate mousse, fruity-spicy aromas on the nose and fine yeast notes on the palate. An elegant sparkling wine, multi-layered, with an unmistakable Austrian style showcasing bright flavors of pear, green apple, and flinty minerality.
Chandra Kurt, Chasselas 'Glou Glou’ Geneva, Switzerland $28
Chandra Kurt is a renowned Swiss wine expert, author, and journalist, and has authored numerous books on wine and is considered one of Switzerland's leading wine writers. "Chasselas" is a white grape variety that is widely grown in Switzerland, particularly in the French-speaking regions. Softly citrusy, green apple and pear, river rocks and bright acidity. A whisper of effervescence from the trapped C02 captured during fermentation.
Olivier Roten-Caves du Paradis Sierre, Pinot Noir “Symphonie” Valais, Switzerland $45
Olivier Roten is a third-generation winemaker at Caves du Paradis in Valais, Switzerland. This stunning Swiss Pinot offers crimson red glimmers in the glass. It has delightful aromas of ripe red cherries and farm-fresh raspberries. It is well balanced and has delicate flavors of raspberry, saddle leather, black cherry and baking spice. It is velvety smooth, with persistent touches of nutmeg and cinnamon on the finish.
Hopler, Zweigelt Burgenland, Austria $21
Zweigelt is the most widely planted red variety in Austria, yet still at only 13% of the country’s total vineyard plantings. It was created by crossing Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent (two other typical Austrian varieties) grapes. It offers flavors of red cherries, berries, and plums, showcasing the grape's fruitiness and freshness. The wine is light to medium body with soft tannins and a refreshing acidity that adds brightness to the overall profile.
