Harvey and Harriet, White Blend Central Coast, California $22
60% Chardonnay, 26% Albarino, 10% Viognier, 4% Pinot Grigio. Intense aromas of peach, lemongrass, fresh citrus, honey and flint, opening to new aromatic nuances with each return to the glass. The medium-bodied palate is bursting with perfumed fruit, loaded with juicy acidity, and it finishes with a touch of anchoring texture. It's a delicious yet serious
Tablas Creek, "The Overachiever” Grenache Paso Robles, California $45
Tablas Creek chose three lots from the estate vineyard's oldest blocks that emphasized Grenache's freshness and avoided riper lots that tended toward higher alcohols. Aged in neutral oak until bottling, resulting in crunchy red fruit and spice.
Outlot Wines, Cabernet Sauvignon Oak Knoll - Napa, California $21
A brilliant plum hue in the glass. The nose opens on blackberry and cassis, accented by hints of Niçoise olives, black pepper, menthol, and tilled earth. The medium-bodied palate offers dense black fruit, well-integrated tannins, and a touch of minerality on the finish. A supremely food-friendly wine.
Lava Cap, “American River” Red Blend Sierra Foothills, California $22
IN between Tahoe and Sacramento comes this winery growing mountain fruit at the base of the Sierras. The American River Red blend of Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Zinfandel. It opens with aromas of dark cherry, blackberry and a hint of clove. Layers of spicy oak frame a generous, plush and juicy mid-palate. Red fruit flavors linger into a toasty vanilla finish.
